What is a private pension?

A personal pension is a very tailor-made pension plan. It can be used by anyone but is ideal for the self-employed sole trader. Contributions can be made on a regular or annual basis, making it a very tax-efficient way to use surplus income at year-end to save for your retirement.

On retirement, 25% of the fund can be taken tax-free (up to €200,000) with the remainder used to provide a regular income.
